do uninstall dvd maker reinstall it

How do I Uninstall the DVD Maker and Reinstall it?

Windows DVD Maker is not working since I had to do a uninstall of some Nero Programs. I would like to uninstall it and reinstall it,but I cannot find it in Installed Programs or Windows Features.
iam bennu

It may be a feature of he operating system and not a separate component.

So far there's only a few things you can turn on and off. DVD Maker isn't one of them. To see what you can turn on/off, open Control Panel, search for
feat
and click the "Turn on or off Windows features". I don't know whether or not that box is any indication of what'll be in the shipping product.

Thanks Mark,
That
would be unfourtunate as you would have no way to fix or reset it separately from the system if it is not working. I hope that not to be the case.

This is a typical problem with MS OS's, they really are not modular enough.MS please design your OS in a more modular fashion, so public can install the "core" OS but then option it up, if they want to, with all the additional modules like DVD Burning, IE7, WMM6, WMP11, MS security, MS spyware and MS antivirus, etc, don't integrate these applications deep into the OS as you have been doing since 1995, its just annoying, and many folks and indeed EU regulators wish you would just make the OS more modular.
If you keep going the way you are, that is that a PC owner really does not need any third party software for routine computing tasks, you will find that the regulators will come gunning for you at the bequest of the third party software lobby.
MS share holders, monolopy is not in your interests, you best tell MS CEO some time soon.

Which is part of the reason they will offer less "Ultimate" versions that do not include all the features that Ultimate has.

My, this thread is suddenly hot!
Back to the subject at hand. I did some more testing and it seems that it is a video issue that is plaguing me. DVD Maker is crashing because the video codec's or missing or off. So I am trying to update my codec's and I might do a reinstall of Media Player.
When I tried opening the DVD Maker with only pictures it worked fine.
Is there any advice as to what I can load to fix my video problem or how I can troubleshoot it to make a better assessment.
Thanks,
iam

Yeah, you need an DVD decoder (mpeg2 codec) to do anything with DVD video. It's always been that way. I don't know why MS can't just ship it with the OS. Funny thing is when I look at the Technical Support link in the Help > About page for WMP 11 my installed DVD codes appear to be from Microsoft. They look like this on that page:
Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder msmpeg2vdec.dll 11.0.5366.6176 CBVA DMO wrapper filter cbva.dll 6.0.5384.4 Microsoft MPEG-2/DD Audio Decoder msmpeg2adec.dll 11.0.5370.6191
Stupid thing is I can't remember which codec I actually installed. But none is showing up in my list of installed programs, which would be the case is I installed a commercial decoder. I'm thinking it might have been the public domain mpeg2 one from www.deskshare.com. But I've screwed around so much with all this stuff I can't remember what all I've done anymore.
You
should be able to drag-and-drop files to DVDs, multi-session style. You don't need a codec to treat the DVD as filesystem disk. But of course, you can't watch those DVDs on a TV ;-)

I have isolated my problem with the DVD Maker to codecs for . mpg, .wmv and some avis in the system. They files can play in Nero Showtime and Window Media Classic but Windows is not doing anything with them. The pictures are pixilated and the system bogs down to the point that I just have to shut it down.
This happens even when open my video folder. I did try to make Window Media Classic my default player for most of the video files this seems to help with the system bogging, but not all of it. I plan on keeping it this way until I can troubleshoot it some more with Media Player.
I really would love to have Media Player play everything as it is nicely integrated with my desktop and explorer. I just did a reload of Vista to see when the problem occurs and it is on loading for my system.
I don't know much about codecs so... Are there any adjustments I can do in Media Player to help the problem or is this just a Beta thing?
